Took this shot Saturday morning at the SC State Museum.  I think this was the best Halloween yet.

Ok, before you look at the picture understand that it was night time with flourescent lights 112 mm zoom w/ IS at 3200 ISO and no flash.  It’s not perfect but for test purposes it worked out better than expected.  I did some noise clean up, a little bit of tweaking on this photo and reduced the resolution.  I was probably a good 200 feet away or better.  I tried this with my Rebel and the photos were blurry and dark (they sucked).  I think I’ll keep our new Canon 50D for a while.

This was just a lucky shot.  My 5 year old Canon Digital Rebel and my 5 year old daughter seemed to be in sync and I was lucky enough to capture the moment.   Even if I wasn’t her father I would have said what a beautiful child.  Lucky me.

We went to our local Art Museum to see the Ansel Adams exhibit and found this in the gift shop.

It’s called a Buddha Board.

Morgan has been interested in learning Chinese Calligraphy for a while now and this is the perfect way for her to practice without going through reams of paper.  We saw it in the gift shop of our local Art Museum and had a hard time getting Morgan to leave once she got her hands on one.  Amazon has them for $25 so hello Christmas.

At this rate it will be July 2011, that’s my prediction this month.  The year of March continues on and on.  March has 31 days and so far we are at the 28th of March.  This is a hard lesson learned about procrastination and patience.091013

So far the only families that have gotten adoption referrals from China are families with LID (Log In Dates) in March. We have made it to March 24, 2006 this month. Our LID is October 9th, 2006 at this rate Morgan will be in college when we get our referral.

Here’s our Excel Spread Sheet with our data of the last 2-1/2 years: China Referral Timeline  (feel free to play with the numbers to suit your situation and share with friends)

Here is what our graph looks like now.  I keep thinking @#$% every time I look at it.  We are rapidly approaching our 3 year LID anniversary &*%$, something I never dreamed we would have to seen.  I still expect to wait till June 2011, $?@!.  In the mean time adoption costs go up from what we expected.

Yesterday when I picked Morgan up from afterschool she told me that she was “Queen for the Day”.  She told me that she got to be the line leader all day and wear the crown and decide what she wanted to do.  Kind of sounds like a day in the life of the Creighton family.  Love ya Morgan I hope we get pictures from the teacher.

We did it again.  We got finger printed by Homeland Security so that we can renew our I-171-H Form “Notice of Favorable Determination Concerning Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition”.  Our appointment was last Friday at the Charleston USCIS office so we made a weekend trip out of it.  We stayed at a cool hotel called aloft.  aloft reminded me of the hotel we stayed at in Beijing.  The room was very high tech and compact, just how I like it.  We took Morgan with us and had to get her out of school early just before lunch.  We didn’t take out new car (I secretly wanted to) but the van was more comfortable for all.  While we were down there we stuffed ourselves with shrimp and She-Crab soup.  I think we all agreed that Beaufort had more and better food, but we had a good time anyway.  The place where we stayed was near a Prime Outlet so Becky tried to make the most of it while Morgan and I were dragging behind.  That Saturday we went to the Charleston Market and bought Morgan some charms for her bracelet and some Charleston T-shirts.  I think we were all glad to be home Saturday night.
