23 Months and Counting
Filed Under Isabelle | Leave a Comment
23 Months and counting we’ve been waiting for almost 2 years and I was worried that the Olympics were going to be a problem for us, Ha Ha silly man. Morgan keeps asking when is her baby sister going to get here. What do you say to that? Saying “I don’t know I wish she was here to” only goes so far. Now Morgan is asking about birth parents and where babies come from and at times it’s hard to answer those questions.
Ok, back to details it’s 23 months and counting since our LID (Log In Date) of 10/09/06. The last referral group waited for 31 months or 939 days from LID to referral. Yes, it sounds like it is so close but in reality at the current rate its close but yet sooooooooo far away. At this rate it will be June 2011 when we get our referral. I may post my super duper spread sheet so that you can see the Horror of the reality I see and get depressed with me. Waiting still SUCKS!!! I think I’ll make a T-Shirt that says “Waiting SUCKS” in english and Chinese.

Yes, usually charts like this mean good things, something is growing. Unfortunately this chart means that our wait time is growing and growing and growing.

22 Months and counting we’ve been waiting for almost 2 years and I was worried that the Olympics were going to be a problem for us, Ha Ha silly man. Morgan is growing like a weed, straight up with no end in sight and still as cute, smart and active as can be. We’ve considered abandoning the adoption and raising Morgan as a single child, trying another country (I hear Taiwan has an adoption program), or just sticking it out. As you can probably tell we decided to stick it out. We’ve been holding on to the hope that maybe after the olympics that things will speed up but deep down know that it probably won’t happen. Really we are torn
Well it’s 22 months and counting since our LID (Log In Date) of 10/09/06. The last referral group waited for 30 months or 919 days from LID to referral. Yes, it sounds like it is so close but in reality at the current rate its close but yet sooooooooo far away. I could walk to China and still be waiting for our referral, and I walk slow. At this rate it will be May 2011 when we get our referral. I may post my super duper spread sheet so that you can see the Horror of the reality I see and get depresed with me. Do you realize that if this adoption went as fast as Morgans we would have had Isabelle for over a year now.

ubuntu our new laptop OS
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
I’ve always hated paying Microsoft $100 to upgrade to their new OS. I’ve been paying for upgrades since the early DOS days. Now there’s a FREE alternative and we’ve taken it, so far so good. I only needed an OS so that we can surf the web and send email on an 8 year old laptop and ubuntu was thew solution. It was the easiest install I’ve ever had not like Windows where you have to answer questions for hours and you still have to tweak it so your there behind the computer for hours.
We actually installed xubuntu since our laptop was an older machine and resourses were slim. xubuntu is so easy even Becky learned how to use what she needed quickly. The best part is that it’s FREE and works Great… Yes, it’s linux and it’s simple, stable and we love it. If you have an old PC and wat to just surf the web try this. Your web browser is Mozilla FireFox and your email program is Mozilla Thunderbird. Both were easy to set up and run. Long live Linux.

Well it’s 21 months and counting since our LID (Log In Date) of 10/09/06. The last referral group waited for 29 months or 896 days from LID to referral. Yes, it sounds like it is so close but in reality at the current rate its close but yet sooooooooo far away. I could walk to China and still be waiting for our referral, and I walk slow. At this rate it will be April 2011 when we get our referral. I may post my super duper spread sheet so that you can see the Horror of the reality I see and get depresed with me. Do you realize that if this adoption went as fast as Morgans we would have had Isabelle for over a year now.

Yes, usually charts like this mean good things, something is growing. Unfortunatly this chart means that our wait time is growing and growing and growing. Take two rulers and line each of them up with one of the lines on the chart. They intersect off the computer screen and I’m talking about a widescreen monitor, how sad. One of the things that this Chart is also telling us is that the age diffrence between our two girls is growing. Morgan will be in College and Isabelle will be starting Kindergarden. Ok I may be exagerating but they won’t be in the same school together.

Filed Under Morgan | Leave a Comment
Yep, that’s right the Creighton’s went Strawberry Picken and Morgan’s friends (9 families) joined us. We went to “The Patch” and had a blast. Afterward almonst all went to Antonina’s for lunch. Morgan picked 2 baskets full of strawberries. It’s a good thing she did since she will eat about a basket a week the other strawberries went to Morgan’s Nana, Pa, Ma & Da. We may have to go back next weekend to get more.
Next month Blue Berries.

Do you know about “TED”?
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
I got this email today from my Boss who got it from his wife who got it from someone else. I was aware of the TED Convention a year ago via an email from another friend. I ended up I forwarding that email around and my Boss was one of the recipients. He knew I was intrested in stuff like the TED Convention so I was sent this link today. I think you’ll find it very intresting:
If you don’t already know about TED.COM you should. I’ll give you more details about TED in this email, but I really want you to listen to this presentation by Sir Ken Robinson.
About the video clip:
Why don’t we get the best out of people? Sir Ken Robinson argues that it’s because we’ve been educated to become good workers, rather than creative thinkers. Students with restless minds and bodies — far from being cultivated for their energy and curiosity — are ignored or even stigmatized, with terrible consequences. “We are educating people out of their creativity,” Robinson says. It’s a message with deep resonance. Robinson’s TEDTalk has been distributed widely around the Web since its release in June 2006.

Please take some time and listen to this presentation. You will not be sorry.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).
This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. More than 200 talks from our archive are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Common license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.
The website is: http://www.ted.com/

If you like Jeff Foxworthy and short rhyming stories this is the book for you. I love to read it to Morgan at night because the stories are written so well that they just flow right out of my mouth. They are outrageous enough to keep Morgan’s attention and spawn conversation about Crazy things. Since Morgan is a girl we often look for books about girls but don’t be fooled by the cover it’s not about a boy it’s about everything. Oh and it helps that Jeff Foxworthy is a comedian so there’s a cleverness and wit.
