After a long day working in the yard doing some much needed yard work in preparation for our future daughter, I decided to get the mail. Becky was upstairs working in the baby’s room after helping in the yard. I was flipping through our mail, as I typically do, when I saw the last envelope and it said Immigration and Naturalization Service. I was kind of nervous opening the letter because of the horror stories Becky and I had heard, one of them from our new good friends Fred and LaWanna. As I opened the letter, I scanned it looking for anything that said approval. I had no idea what the I-171H form was supposed to look like. I found a signature and a stamped I-171H on the letter and another signature in red and just below that signature it said APPROVED!! I was so happy I was standing in the garage yelling YES!!! Apparently Becky heard me and came rushing down to see what was going on. She was speechless and then we decided to call our family. It was a very relieving experience. We know people that it’s taken 5+ months to get approval. If I had another roll of 1000 firecrackers, I would have lit them off in celebration, anything to disturb the neighborhood. Old people live around us I have taken it upon myself to liven up their lives with burn piles, loud music and fireworks at inappropriate times of the day. Just wait until our daughter gets here.
