Here’s the rundown on what we have accomplished and what we are still working on. The deck is still a work in progress. I did start putting up the handrail and started thinking about staining the deck to hide some imperfections. All of that remains to be seen. I know it sounds like I’ll never finish the deck. The baby’s room keeps getting tweaked with new stuff but nothing noteworthy. We’ve made progress in the FROG. I can now prove that we have wall to wall carpet in our FROG, but there is still a great deal left to do before the room is declared finished. The guest bathrooms, both of them, haven’t been started yet. Becky and I have been talking about another big purge and several trips to Goodwill soon. We have been seeing Kim and EmmaLi almost weekly. I don’t think that I have shared EmmaLi’s name for Becky, it’s “Bepey” and I’m “Pete”, of course. Kim has told us that EmmaLi occasionally asks for us, “Bepey, Pete?” Love that kid. EmmaLi has been helpful during this waiting time and Kim has been a Great friend with lots of advice. We have sooooooo much to learn before Morgan gets here. Fred and LaWanna got their referral September 8th. The future Terri Lawren Zummach is beautiful. While it’s been fun watching Fred & LaWanna with their referral, it is still hard waiting for our referral. On the bright side, we can learn from them so we’ll be ready for ours. I hope Morgan is as pretty as Terri. We’ve seen some referrals that were bad in our opinion. Not many, but a few. I’ve been surprisingly calm as the time gets closer to getting our referral. Becky keeps reading the Yahoo Groups and hearing rumors about when our group (April) will get our referrals. I keep telling her that the rumors aren’t true until we hear it from GWCA. CCAA is trying to get the referrals out before Oct. 1st which is the beginning of their Moon Festival. This means they are closed from Oct. 1st through Oct. 8th for a holiday. Wish we had holidays like that in the US. Oh well, wishful thinking! We are going to have a great adventure with our daughter exploring her culture. Hopefully, CCAA will send out our referral next week and I will only have one last entry in this chapter of filler and fluff called The Waiting. At that point, I can start becoming the obnoxious father I have always aspired to be. If you met my father, you would know that I already have a strong background of being a kid with an obnoxious father (just kidding Dad, Love ya, mean it!). I look forward to the years of my daughter embarrassing me and the pay back she’ll get when she’s older (once again I’m kidding). I know I said I’m calm but Becky and I are both ready to get the referral NOW. Then we’ll go CRAZY trying to get her home. Fred & LaWanna’s baby shower was fun. Anytime there is a shrimp boil and beer you know it’s going to be a good time. A while back Kim told Fred that they didn’t have enough toys for Terri. Fred’s reply was all she needs are 2 Legos and 2 Lincoln Logs and she’ll be fine. After Fred said that, Becky went out and purchased some Legos and wrapped up 2 and gave them to Fred as a gag gift at the baby shower. The look on Fred’s face was priceless. If kids weren’t around, I know what Fred would have liked to say to us, but he’s a good sport and so am I so I won’t say it here. Use your imagination. At the shower, EmmaLi was showing everyone just how smart she is and one of the young mothers quickly asked Kim “Where does she go to Daycare?” We told her it was all Kim. EmmaLi and Kim are quite a pair and Kim is a great Mom. Bad news, we got confirmation from GWCA that CCAA did not finish the matching process so our referrals were not mailed before the end of the month. It’s October 7th and GWCA hasn’t heard from China (CCAA) to let us know the referrals are on their way yet. Don’t you know, it’s Moon Festival and CCAA is closed October 1st – 8th. Everyone knows about Moon Festival, right? We were supposed to have a baby shower for SCDOT people last Sunday, Oct. 3rd, but Becky’s Dad had some chest pains and ended up in the hospital for a few days and getting a Stint in an artery where it was 99% blocked. We are both glad he made it through that. He gave everyone a scare. Because of Becky’s Dad being sick, we postponed the DOT Baby Shower. Thank you to everyone that was going to show up for understanding and a special Thank you to Mike and Kelly for understanding and postponing the shower for us (Mike and Kelly were giving us the shower). Next week we’ll have the Family and Friends one at our house. If we are lucky we’ll have our referral to display and a clean house. This weekend Kim and EmmaLi are moving to a more permanent location. Kim just purchased her first house and we are going to help her move. It’s 2 blocks down from where she is currently living. I think they’ll be happy there for a while. Oh, Kim told us that she is going to get a cat and name him Chairman Meow. It’s a China joke, get it??
