Sleep, all I want to do is sleep. Morgan, the child that slept 12 hours through the night in China and her first Month in the US has been waking up every night at least 3 or 4 times. Last week I was sick and this week Becky and Morgan are sick so I can understand why she’s not sleeping right now. Since I was sick we missed an opportunity to meet with a family that went to China with us. Since we have been having sleep problems we have ordered the Grandparents to limit the daily naps so that we can get some sleep at night. When we confronted them it was a little tense but I think everyone understood. We were all frazzled trying to figure out this kid. Oh, one day I got home and all four grandparents were there. They were all proud of themselves and told me that Morgan learned a new trick. Turns out they taught Morgan to climb the stairs. Unfortunately Becky and I were not all that excited about Morgan climbing stairs. We are still working out the kinks in the Grandparents Daycare, but so far it has been working out well. Hey Free daycare how can I complain? We are thrilled that Morgan is getting to know all four Grandparents. Oh, I can sum up my TV watching in one word “Wiggles”. We have our TIVO record all Wiggles programs. Needless to say I wake up in the morning singing the Wiggles theme song “Lights, Camera, Action, Wiggles, welcome to our TV show…”. I’ve done things that I never thought I would do. I sing, I dance, I’m teaching my daughter the burlesque song, Becky’s worried. Hey you try to undress a wanna be independent 15 month old without her screaming. Whatever it takes… Morgan is taking several steps now. Wait until she figures out that she can do it on her own. She can nod “Yes” and shake her head “No” (she’s particularly good at that one). Morgan can blow kisses, make a clucking noise with her tongue. She can wave Hello and Goodbye and when I come home she’ll lay her head on my shoulder when I pick her up and pat my back. I love that kid. Oh, recently we had Morgan at the Dr.’s office and she gained 2 lbs and grew 2 inches. We must be doing something right.

We’ve been home over a month and a half now and we are still trying to get our feet on the ground. I don’t think it’s possible. I went back to work a month ago and today is Becky’s last day of leave. I know she is dreading going back, but probably not as much as I did. I think Morgan knows that something is going to change or she’s sick. We’ll find out today, Morgan has a Doctor’s appointment at 2:00. Monday night Morgan screamed and cried all night. I got some sleep (not a lot), but Becky got none. Then Morgan woke up early this morning and I rocked her to sleep. Either she knows something is up or she’s not feeling well. Let’s see we have been to several restaurants where Morgan has surprised us and behaved very well. We don’t get the staring like I thought we would since neither Becky nor I are Asian. Don’t get me wrong we get told how beautiful she is all the time. We really appreciate hearing that. Morgan has fit right into our life and the fact that she’s adopted isn’t even an issue, we don’t even think about it. Morgan is ours and that’s all that matters. She is demanding almost 100% of our time and consequently our website has suffered along with the house, yard, etc. Morgan is not walking yet but she will soon. Look out world. We are encouraging her to try to stand on her own with out holding on to something and she’s getting better. It won’t be long. I’ve been converting all of our China home video to DVD format. Morgan also is sorting shapes. She seems to like a different shape block each day and will search the pile of toys for a matching shape. Brilliant!! I tell you she is. When I get home and see that little face light up when she sees me the rest of the day doesn’t matter. Becky’s parents will finish out the week so I’ll have to compete with her when I get home. It won’t be that bad. That just means that there will be more family time and that’s what we have wanted for a long time.
