A whole month has gone by and a lot has happened. I hope I can remember it all. We finally started printing our 2004 China trip photos. Did you know Sam’s Club prints digital 4×6 photos for 0.17 cents? Wow!! As I look at the pictures of our daughter, I found myself wondering, “Where did my little girl go?” We have only had Morgan 4 and a half months and she’s growing so fast. She’s not the quiet little girl we adopted in China anymore. Becky and I joke about how to stop her from growing up. Well, Morgan celebrated her first Easter with us and had a blast. We got her all dressed up, took pictures and then headed to the in-laws for an Easter egg hunt. My parent’s joined us and it really was a fun day. It rained so we hid eggs in the house and once we showed Morgan what she was looking for, she really took off. She found all the eggs and wanted to find more once she found the goodies inside. Yes, Becky subjected her to the bunny ears and luckily was fast enough with the camera to get a picture before they were ripped off her head. She was not particularly fond of those or her little bonnet. We did get pictures with that on as well but got the looks like why are you subjecting me to this. We have some great pictures, video and memories! The next weekend, we met Kim and EmmaLi for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. We had a great time. The girls made a mess, ran around the restaurant and we think made the manager mad. Oh well! Next, we took a road trip to Nashville, TN. Nine to ten hours in the car with a 16 month old. Morgan did Great! We got a DVD player and had 9 hours of straight Wiggles and Veggie Tales. I’m now convinced I’m the lost Wiggle. The staff at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel didn’t seem to understand that I’m the lost Wiggle and that I was there to be discovered. While Becky was at her conference, Morgan and I walked all around the Hotel. The Gaylord Opryland Hotel is HUGE!! Let’s see, Morgan ate at the following restaurants and saloons while in Nashville: Old Hickory Steakhouse, Rainforest Café, the Aquarium Restaurant, and the Wildhorse Saloon. My Mom told me a few nights ago that Morgan is going to have Champaign taste. I think she’s right. Luckily, Morgan does eat canned and frozen veggies. The trip back from Tennessee was just as easy as the trip up. I don’t know how China did it but we got a child that fits us perfectly. Becky and I really are the lucky ones. Talking, Morgan has started talking with real words like Daddy and bye, not just babbling. How cool is that. When I get home now and surprise Morgan, she will run to me and say at least what I think is “Daddy”. That makes everyday worth living. We are trying to teach her new words but with six adults working on her and half of them having southern accents. I bet it’s difficult for her to figure things out. Morgan is running, attempting to jump (I don’t know if she knows that she is or if she is just excited, but it looks like jumping to me.), climbing stairs (one foot per step), sorting blocks, feeding herself, and starting to point at body parts. We are still in the early stages of all these motor functions. By no means has Morgan mastered any of them. Found out that our site is doing exactly what we set out to have it do. The goal for this site was to document what we went through to get Morgan, for Morgan, family, friends and everyone that is going through the adoption process. We wanted others to know that they are not alone and it can be an intimidating and lonely process to go through. It’s just nice to know others have gone through a similar experience. We found out that a couple in Columbia found the FCC group through our web site and that it seemed to help them. Just last weekend, we were eating in O’Charlies with LaWanna and Terri and were approached by a woman from Asheville. She said that her close friend that is adopting from China has been following our site and that she was following it with her. She recognized Becky and Morgan from the pictures posted on our site. How cool is that?? We felt like celebrities. I hope everything goes smoothly for them. Next, Morgan and I were on an outing at the local Bi-Lo and we ran into a new Dad with his new daughter from China. I kind of snuck up behind him and said, “When did you get back?” He lit up with pride and we had a long conversation about our daughters. It was Great! You have no idea how much joy these little girls can bring until you get one. I honestly can’t wait to go back and get another. Morgan is now 17 months old and we are trying to line up our 6 month Post Placement with June Bond. It turns out that June is holding an adoption seminar at the end of May and she has asked Becky, Morgan and I as well as several other couples who worked with her to sit on a panel to answer questions and talk about our experiences. Since I love talking about what we did, we agreed and June will count that as our Post Placement visit. How cool is that?? The last bit of news is that I posted 2 videos on Morgan’s website and we got so many hits that we maxed out our bandwidth. First we took the videos off, but in the end, the site was shut down for a few hours. We’ll have to look into more bandwidth or another webhost. We really want others to see the videos to get a feel of the trip. April was a Great Month and I hope May is even better.
