We had a Great Month of May. We spent Mother’s day at the Zummach’s. Morgan and Terri tried swimming with their Dads and neither of the girls were too thrilled. The water was cold until we added enough hot water to warm up the pool. Both Lawanna and Becky took photos to bribe either the girls or Fred and I at a later date. Fred cooked ribs and we had a discussion about if the ribs should be boiled or not. I was for boiling and Fred was not. The ribs were Great and Morgan and Terri were sucking the bones like the rest of us. That’s my girl. Morgan has also learned that swings and slides are fun. She is starting to loosen up and relax at the park. I think she has learned that the park is a place designed for her. If you check the photos, we have some good ones of Morgan at the park. Mom & Dad need to learn to time it better and get Morgan to the park before naptime not at naptime. Morgan still is great even when she is exhausted. We or I finally broke and decided to take Morgan to a dermatologist to look at the birthmark on her belly. I have to say that when we left the Dr.’s office I didn’t feel much better about it and may seek a second opinion. The place was called Elante and there was an Elante Day Spa on the second floor and right there I was concerned. We waited for 45 min past our appointment with a 17 month old that was wide-awake and getting into everything. By the time we met with the Nurse Practitioner, Morgan was quite upset and so was I. Morgan was so upset she vomited, which was a first. Morgan and I were both upset by the way we were treated. I wasn’t looking for special treatment just some understanding. I should have known when the waiting room had engineered middle-aged women waiting to be seen. When I say engineered, I mean that they look good but it was obvious that they had had some remodeling done. Anyway, the staff didn’t think it was anything to worry about. I felt like I paid to have someone say, “Oh ya, it’s ok”. I swear some Doctors need to work on their presentation or people skills. After we left the human reconstruction lab, we had a banana split at Sonic. Have I mentioned that Morgan likes ice cream? Then my Dad’s birthday was here and we were going to get him a gift certificate at Target. He hates Target because they don’t play background music. We wanted him to face his fears, but he had a better idea like buy his grand daughter a sand box. I was going to go for a bright green frog sand box and Becky wanted me to get the sand castle one for $20 more. They held the same amount of sand just one looked like a mound of sand and the other could be seen by the space shuttle. Becky won out, as if you thought I would win. We are now at the 6-month Post Placement stage and we had to identify all of Morgan’s motor skills. It took Becky and I a while to get past she can chew food and walk but we did. One of her skills is that she can walk backwards. I don’t know if the Grand Parents taught her this or if she figured this out herself but my daughter can walk backwards, Cool! Oh, and my Dad taught her how to High Five. Good job Dad! Morgan spent a Saturday playing with another friend Camille. They seemed to get along Great. We have been trying to expose Morgan to as many little people as possible, when we have time, to teach her some social skills. I think we have the sharing thing working right now but I know that can change at any time. As the sun was going down, we all decided to go to dinner. Todd had never been to the Crab Shack so that’s where we went. I usually get Beaufort Stew there, it’s not the best, but I don’t have to cook so it’s good enough. Note to the Crab Shack use more Old Bay seasoning. The girls were great and Morgan had some competition with Camille flirting with everyone in the restaurant. Oh, Beaufort Stew is basically a shrimp boil so every time I pealed a shrimp Morgan insisted on taking the first bite. My daughter is defiantly a Southern girl. She eats okra, shrimp and grits and loves to run around barefoot. We took my parents to Fire Mountain (an over glorified Ryan’s). The food there was ok but Morgan really enjoyed the ice cream cone we gave her. She got ice cream everywhere. Becky and I have started to loosen up about letting Morgan feed herself; we just didn’t want to deal with the mess. I wouldn’t say we are quite there but Morgan is helping to push us to let her feed herself. We took Becky’s parents to the Crab Shack the following weekend and Morgan fell asleep on the way there. She slept on my shoulder until I finished my meal and then decided it was time to wake and eat. The staff was great and got us a half order to feed Morgan. We enjoyed our meals and Grandpapa enjoyed walking Morgan around. This past Sunday, we had an 18-month birthday party for Morgan since we missed her first birthday by 10 days. It was just the grandparents, Becky and I in attendance. I think Morgan had a blast. She was the center of attention and was surrounded by the 6 people in town that love her the most. What more could she want. She blew out the candle, actually Becky did, and then the fun began. We sat her in her high chair and gave her a large piece of cake and ice cream. She got it everywhere, on her face, hands, and hair, everywhere. We had to hold her over the sink and hose her off. Good thing she likes to wash her hands at the sink. Oh, we went to Star Wars with Camille’s parents this past Saturday and left Morgan with Becky’s Mom Ruth. Right before the movie, Becky told me that she missed Morgan and that she missed her head butting. Morgan gives a gentle head butt as a sign of affection. Once Becky said that, I was distracted the entire movie. Damn I missed that kid even for just those few hours. Star Wars was good but the Force was no match for the power of Morgan, amazing. We did have a good time with Rene & Todd at the movies. One last thing, on the 24th, the Morgan Creighton Home Page was loading up very slowly so through trial and error I figured out that it was the web counter so I signed up for a new one and dumped the old one. The new one not only tells me the info I got from the old one but it also tells me the state and country from where the visitor is from. How cool is that! We started the new web counter on the 24th and since then have had visits from at least 25 US States and 9 others from different countries. Very Cool and a Great big, “Thank you”, to all of our visitors. It makes us feel good to be able to share our experiences getting and raising our new daughter with the world. We are not alone. Here are the states: (Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington). Here are the countries: (Spain, Australia, Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, China, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden).
