Well another month went by and Morgan is settling in nicely. We started off the month with an adoption seminar held by our social worker June Bond. We dressed Morgan up in her red Chinese dress and red squeaky shoes, we were there to impress. There were about 7 families with their adopted children at the meeting to talk about their experiences. We were family #6 and at that time we lost control of Morgan. It was naptime and we tried to plan for that ahead of time but Morgan didn’t last. While we were talking, Morgan got fussy so I took her outside to calm down. I don’t think she likes crowds. Anyway, I think June’s adoption seminar was successful. I think everyone there wanted to adopt domestically. Not a problem, we love talking about our experience and bragging about our daughter. The other cool thing is that June counted that as our 6-month Post Placement. We handed her the questionnaire and $300.00 and in a few days we got a copy of the 6-month Post Placement report. June Bond is Great!!! Shower, Shower, Shower!!! Morgan finally had a Shower given by Mike and Kelly. The fault was all ours for why it took so long. We had to cancel the first shower due to Becky’s Dad having some health problems. The shower was GREAT!! We had a good turnout and Morgan did well and got to meet a number of people that Becky works with. Mike and Kelly, Thank You for the shower it was perfect and your house was beautiful. I have to say everyone at the DOT has been wonderful to Morgan. I want everyone from the DOT that may read this to know that we really appreciate the shared excitement and gifts for Morgan. Morgan is an amazing child and I’m sure every Dad thinks that about their child, but the outpouring of excitement and interest about Morgan has happily surprised us. Enough gushing. It’s funny. I feel like the Grinch where my heart has grown from just having Morgan in my life. Don’t get me wrong, Becky helps too, but Morgan just pushed me over the edge. Father’s day, in typical fashion for me it was casual and low-key the way I like it. We went to the Crab Shack and just had an easy day. It was overcast and I cut the grass because it was something I needed/wanted to do. I got a beautiful frame with a picture of my girl and me from Becky. Becky’s the Best. I’m a lucky man. Enough gushing, again. Kitchen, Morgan got a SUPER ULTRA DELUXE kitchen and plastic food that is now littering the floor of our house. We figured that she would now have something to talk about with the food, we hope. We made a play date with Camille at the library one Saturday morning thinking that they had story time that day, but we were wrong. The girls played with the books and toys at the library. Morgan was reorganizing the library. Then we went to McDonalds for lunch. Did you know that they had Happy Meal toys for 3 and under? And, that you can get fruit instead of fries? Times have changed. We really are new to this parenting thing. We don’t frequent McDonalds much so Rene and Todd schooled us on some of the finer points. We had a panic visit with the Dr. that Sunday about Morgan’s ears. Fortunately, everything was ok but we told the Dr. about the kitchen and our concerns with speech. The Dr. thought the kitchen was a great idea and seemed pleased that we are trying. She even mentioned that some children born naturally to parents in the states are still not talking by 2-year olds. We left the Dr.’s office feeling like were doing just fine and that Morgan’s vocal skills are coming along. If you talk to the Grandmothers, they will rattle off a number of words that I can’t say I have ever heard Morgan utter, but they do spend a great deal of time with her. I know Morgan can talk; it’s just that Morgan will talk when she wants to. I think Morgan is more like Becky and me than we realize. She’s stubborn, strong willed and demanding. Everything will be on Morgan’s time schedule and not on anyone else’s. Just like Becky and me. I’m sure there is some kind of Karmic Payback and that our parents are sitting back and saying I remember when Peter or Becky used to act like that. Anyway, Morgan is talking, not much but she is talking. I thought I mentioned it on the previous post but my new name is “Da” and Becky is “Ma”. It does my heart good to hear that little fairy voice come up to me slap me on the leg and call out “Da”. At that point she can have what ever she wants. Oh, that cute little fairy voice can also emit a shrill scream that can break glass and a giggle that can melt hearts. I was expecting this to be a short post and now look at it. The FCC had a get together at Saluda Shoals this past weekend. What a cool place. We’d never been there. It was overcast and rainy so we didn’t dress Morgan in her swimsuit, but we should have. It turns out that as long as it isn’t lightning the water park stays open. Morgan probably would have liked the water park so we will have to go back soon. The get together was right at Morgan’s naptime and she was tired and getting cranky. We did enjoy meeting some new families, but Morgan was not in a very social mood and we learned that she’s not fond of crowds. We also noticed that her 2-year molars are starting to come in and she’s in some definite pain. Hello children’s Tylenol, Motrin and teething tablets. The down side is we hate to give Morgan drugs but the upside is the drooling is almost over, YEA!!! No more drool on Morgan, the floor, me and anywhere else. Ok, after the FCC adventure we went home and napped and got ready for the Enlow twins Birthday party at the Pony Express. Found out that it’s just right around the corner from our house. We had a Great time and it was good to see the Enlow’s again. We tried to get Morgan to ride a pony. I told her to pet the big puppy but when I was trying to put her on the pony but she had other plans. That was that for the pony rides. We tried to get her in a big blow-up bouncy slide thing but even with Dad in it Morgan didn’t want anything to do with it. She was very clingy until the end of the party when she started to get a little adventurous. The Enlow’s keep raising the stakes with these birthday parties. I don’t know what we’ll do for Morgan’s 2nd birthday party but we want to keep up with the Enlow’s (Joneses). I’m kidding; the twins are great kids and it fun to see someone else as crazy about their girls as we are. Wow another month of new visitors from even more states and more countries.
