It’s about time I post something new…
We survived the Holiday season Yahoo. Let’s see Thanksgiving in Hilton Head, Christmas, New Years, Chinese New Years at home. We traveled to Tennessee to visit one of the families that we traveled with. Oh, and how could I forget Morgan’s 2nd Birthday. We threw a Birthday party for one of Morgan’s fellow Chinese buddies Terri. Morgan has been to at least 4 Birthday parties since the last post. Morgan got multiple visits from her Aunty M, even her Uncle Brad came to visit once. We celebrated Gotcha Day at where else a Chinese Restaurant. We had our final Post Placement with June our Social Worker. Morgan is now all ours just some paperwork and the DONE. Morgan went from Grandparent daycare to fulltime I’m going to suck you dry daycare. Really, she is enjoying it now. Morgan didn’t like the idea of daycare and I can’t say we did either but we noticed that Morgan was missing out on some things that the Grandparents just couldn’t do. Morgan is now starting to talk saying things like “Einstein”, “Again”, “More” and “I do it myself”. Noooo my daughter can’t start with words like “cup” or “dog”. She also understands everything you say, so now we have to watch what we say. She’s a very smart kid. Now when I pick her up from daycare we’ll go to one of three parks and I’ll let her run around until dinner time. One day I was walking with her and she was going towards a ladder on the playground. It was one of those goofy looking playground ladders. I was actually trying to discourage her from trying to climb it but she insisted so I let her try. The next thing I know she’s on top of the platform looking down at me with that “What?” look on her face. I was shocked. I called Becky and said “when did she start climbing things?” Becky said that Oh she’s been doing that for a few weeks now at the gym. I replied where the hell was I? Becky said that I was probably talking with another parent. Thanks Becky. I made sure to be more observant the next visit to the gym. Morgan is probably one of the happiest kids I know. Another thing we do when I pick her up from daycare is sometimes we get a chocolate milkshake. That kid LOVES chocolate! Just what I need another Chocolate monster in the house. Amazingly Morgan will share her chocolate milkshake with me, ya gotta love that, father daughter bonding. Sometimes when I go to pick Morgan up I’ll stand near the door and watch her through the window playing with the other kids in the daycare. Look out when she sees me or Becky or any one she knows that is there to pick her up. Everything gets dropped and she makes a mad dash towards that person. I started making as big a fuss as she does when she sees me. I’m sure we are quite a sight to see. Did I mention that Morgan is the QUEEN of balloons? About twice a week we go to the grocery store and there they are right in the front, Balloons. Instantly Morgan must have them all and she lets me know. I try to distract and bribe her until the checkout line where I usually give in unless she was really bad. Did you know Publics will give children free balloons? They don’t give them to parents I tried. Morgan likes balloons so much Christmas eve we blew up 50 balloons in our Great Room (go see the Christmas pictures). Talk about a kid in heaven. Morgan was invited to a birthday party the week of Chinese New Year and I thought they had a Great Idea. The Child was turning 2 and the family requested that a donation be made to either their agency or the Half the Sky Foundation. We knew of the Half the Sky Foundation but never really looked at their website. When I did there was a place that said that see if your child was in one of our programs. Turns out that there was a Half the Sky program at Morgan’s orphanage and she was in the program. Half the Sky was offering to send the seasonal updates for free. They did ask for a sizeable donation that we’ll try to meet over time. If you look on the photo page Photos You can see what we got. I can’t tell you how excited and happy we were to get that information. The reports described Morgan exactly. We got all teary reading the translation and looking at the 2 new photos that we didn’t have. I can’t put into words just how much we love this kid and how much getting that information meant to us.
