princess_header.jpgMorgan and Becky went and yes Morgan came back with a club.  Some might call it a wand but I call it a club.  The reason I call it a club is because unlike the princesses that gently and gracefully wave the wand around my daughter wields the wand like a battle axe and I’m usually the victim that gets crowned.  They went with several little girls and their mothers to the show and had a really good time.  Becky said that it was even better than Disney on Ice with The Incredibles.

I was just kidding about the wand, but there was a time when she would use a wand as a club on Daddy.  Ouch…

Ok, after fumbling through the domestication process I think we are getting close.  After getting the documents from SC DHEC Vital Records and sitting on them for about a month and a half we finally took a day off and delivered a copy to our County Clerk of Courts.  Once again no matter how cheery we appear it still takes these people some time to warm up to us.  Almost like we have to hold their hand and reassure them that no this is not a child support payment but a good thing like getting our daughters US birth certificate.  Need less to say I took Morgan and walked out of the room before I said something that might sour the moment.  So Morgan and I sat outside the room discussing why there’s metal detectors and guards at the front entrance.  Being married for 12 years has taught me something and that is there is a time for me to get involved and a time for Becky to handle it.  This was a Becky moment and as usual she pulled it off enlisting the help of all the women behind the counter eventually so that she understood what was going to happen.  In this case I’m the heavy if Becky’s charm doesn’t work (but it usually does, she’s good).  Now we wait to see if the judge just signs the documents or if a court date is set.  Tracy from DHEC (Thank you Tracy for putting up with me) gave us a letter stating that DHEC will not challenge the domestication order so now we wait, again.  If you learn nothing else during an adoption of a child you learn patience.  Boy have we learned to be patient.  Wow wee have we learned to be patient.  Every thing is hurry up and wait.  But I know something that the new adoptive parents only think they know.  That at the end it’s all worth the wait.  Don’t believe me take a look a Morgan our  daughter.  She was worth the wait.  Oh, the domestication made the adoption paperwork look like a walk in the park.  Really we found the directions afterward but they really didn’t say much to help explain the process.  Anyway WE ARE ALMOST DONE!!!!!  YEA!!!!

Anyway now it’s up to the judge.  We hope to hear from him soon to close this chapter and move on to a new one.

She’s my Daughter. Found this on Digg.com and thought I would share.

elmomm02.gifThursday we went to Elmo Makes Music at the Colonial Center.  Can you say “Boring”.  Ya it started at 7:00pm.  Who is this Jenny chick and who were all the new monsters.  I grew up on Sesame Street.  I know Cookie Monster, Grover, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, & Oscar but who are all these other characters?  Morgan has never seen Sesame Street so we knew that this was going to be a stretch.  We went with Betsy and Chesley and they knew all the characters and watched the tv show and they didn’t enjoy the show.  I’m not saying that it wasn’t well performed, it was just boring.  Live and learn.  I bet it would have been better if Morgan had seen the tv show and was between 1 & 2.  Oooo, at intermission they sold mylar balloons of Elmo’s head for $8.  Then after they were all sold there was an announcement requesting everyone with a balloon to store it under your seat until after the show.  I loved that.  We escaped the show with only purchasing 3 bottled waters.  Yea!!!

IMG_8159Ok, Saturday we went Roller Skating, there I said it.  Actually Morgan and I went Roller Skating and Becky watched, took photos and laughed at me during the Adoptive Families Group (AFG) event.  It has probably been 25 years or better since I’d been roller skating, I feel old just saying that.  I told Becky to let me go around once to get my legs back and I was all over the place.  I don’t mean that I was Zooming all over, No I looked like I was drunk.  Then I fell down and the Rink Guard came over and helped me up.  I started to questions the skates, no they didn’t talk back.  I told the guy that I though the bearings were bad on my skates and he just looked at me like ya right.  I then started to think about people that really suck at something always blame the equipment when they are embarrassed, was I doing that?  As it turns out the bearings were bad and I got another pair of skates and did much better.  Becky walked Morgan around once and gave me another chance to tryout the new skates.  Then I was holding the hand of a 40lb, 1st time, 3.5 year old on roller skates who was having the time of her life.

While at the AFG event we saw some friends VJ and Mya & Jada.  They just from China with Mya.  Mya was so small and seemed well adjusted to American life.  Congratulation VJ, Dave, Jada, Mya.  Were sooo envious.  Mya is an adorable little girl.

IMG_8199Sunday was a Party/Reunion at Riverbanks Zoo with Advanced Fertility.  We had reservations about going since we weren’t one of their success stories but I’m glad we did.  We got to see Dr Whitman and Florence Hightower two people that gave us the chance we needed before we made the BEST decision of our life.  While at the party we saw a family that just got back from China.  Really we met once before and I worked with someone that they knew that turned them on to our website.  If that family is reading this, sorry were slow and it took us a while to recognize you, but we are very happy that our web site helped you make it through the long wait.  Did I mention that they got a beautiful little girl from China.  I hope that we survive the wait.

dairy-queen-708977.jpgSunday was also Grandparents day and that evening we met Ma & Da at Dairy Queen for ice cream.  Ahhh good times.

11.jpgyear since Great Wall sent our Dossier to China for the adoption of our second daughter.  It looks like it will take another year + before we get our referral then another 2 months till we go get her in China.  At the current rate we’ll be lucky if we get to go in 2008.  The hard part is knowing that Morgan knows about it and is ready to be the Big Sister.  She’s asking questions that we just don’t have any answers to.  Hopefully soon…

FYI we are DTC 09/08/06 and we are LID 10/09/07.  The latest referral batch was for LID 11/22/05 (these people waited 24 months from LID to Referral).  If you don’t know DTC stands for “Documents To China” and LID stands for “Log In Date”, that’s when China logs in the dossiers.  LID is the date that China uses when the release referrals.

Isabelle we’re thinking of you and can’t wait to come get you.  Hopefully next year I’ll have better news to report.
