IMG_8695IMG_8708Oh boy did October turn out to be a busy and Crazy Month and there’s no sign of stoping.  Friday at MyGym for a Halloween Party.  Morgan was a Clemson Cheerleader, the only one in a sea of University of South Carolina fans.  Go Clemson!!!

IMG_8745IMG_8795Saturday was fun a Harmons Tree Farm with Morgan’s classmates from the USC Childrens Center.  The boy holding the bunny on the right Morgan has informed us that he is her Boyfriend.  I’m not ready for this.  He is a nice boy and we like his parents but, I’m not ready for the boyfriend thing.  Apparently all the kids are matching up.  It sounds like a regular Soap Opera.  Sunday was another Birthday Party this time at Chuck E Cheese.  Happy Birthday Terri!!!

SUCESS!!!  We have successfully completed the Domestication process for Morgan, and what does this mean you ask???

She now has a birth certificate printed in English.

Yep, that’s about it.  Everyone got their money and it’s normal kid stuff from now on.  After our court hearing I took the approved paperwork to DHEC Vital Records and they printed a birth certificate on some blue paper.  There should be no more special forms or documents where Morgan is concerned.  While one has ended another journey has just begun with Isabelle, but this time we know what and how to do.  Ya right…

img_8681c.jpgHere’s the Happy Family with the Family Court Judge.  We entered the court room and the judge was very serious looking.  We were a little nervous since we had thrown all the paperwork we had at them and didn’t label any of it, so if you don’t know just how much paperwork is involved in an adoption it’s a lot.  We didn’t exactly follow court room protocol either.  While trying to explain the documents Becky approached the bench with out asking several times.  I don’t think the Bailiff appreciated that as he stood  about 2 or 3 paces from Becky and the Judge ready to pounce.  Eventually he gave in and would just give Becky a nod that she could approach.  Not that we’ve been to court much but on TV they seem to take approaching the bench seriously.  Fortunately Morgan was with us to help lighten the atmosphere.  The judge took a brief recess to review the mess of documents we submitted.  When she came back she had a smile on her face).  She made a few comments for the record, granted our request for domestication and then came down from the bench and gave Morgan a teddy bear.  Morgan gave the judge a hug and said “Thank you”.  Of course we were all smiles and felt a weight lifted.  Then we took the group photo above.

Oh, then we went downstairs and had the documents certified.  Next and last step DHEC Vital Records and Morgan’s American birth certificate.

Then we went to Cold Stone and celebrated with ice cream.  Hooray!!!  We are almost done.

IMG_8599IMG_8605Yep,  Morgan had another busy social schedule this weekend.  Friday she went to the Fun Zone with Mom and Ma.  Ma has almost as much energy as Morgan and at least twice as much as Becky and I.  Anyway they were busy scoping out the spot for Morgan’s Birthday party.

IMG_8646IMG_8652Saturday it was off to “Tricks and Treats” at the State Museum with friends Chesley and Madison.  We’ve got to go back Morgan seemed to have a really good time.  Maybe next years Birthday party site?

IMG_8658IMG_8680Sunday was “Boo at the Zoo” again with Chesley and Madison.  The girls had a Blast, so much so we may do it again next weekend.  Although Morgan has a pretty busy social schedule.  I need to get a life.

IMG_8358IMG_8286Saturday our local AFG (Adoptive Families Group) and FCC (Families with Children from China) sponsored an outing at Country Adventures in Blythewood.  Morgan had a blast.  All she wanted to do is go on the Hay ride and eat hot dogs by the camp fire.  She got to do so much more like ride horses and run around a farm atmosphere.  I was well drugged up for the event since I’m allergic to Horses and Hay.  After that we went to see Nana and Papa.  We had a very busy day to say the least.

IMG_8373IMG_8424Sunday we went to the SC State Fair with Morgan’s friend Madison and her family and rode a bunch of rides then Morgan CRASHED.  Morgan Crashed (fell a sleep) while we took a

IMG_8532IMG_8475break watching the Jigu! Thunder Drums of China (Jigu in Chinese means to “beat or touch the drum”.).  So while Morgan slept a group of Chinese drum players pounded on big drums.  Before we left we had to get a Lemonade and Elephant Ear.  Hey have you ever heard of a deep fried Pepsi?  Neither did I.  I still don’t know what it is.  We were speculating that it was a battered Pepsi can.  Oh well we had a good time and spent a lot of money.  This coming weekend is going to be another busy one.

ni-hao-kai-lan.jpgOk, I was wrong.  I don’t remember where I saw that Ni Hao, Kai-Lan was to start in October 22nd ‘07 but it is supposed to start in February ‘08, click on the photo for the link.  Bummer.  We were really excited about getting to see the show soon.  Looks like the link for the 3 sample programs is a dead link, but…

Well we have our court date.  Yea!!!  The long process is almost over.  I think we’ll Celebrate that day.  Part of the reason it took so long was us and some was them.  No matter it’s almost over.   So we can start it all over again with Isabelle.  Still we are all smiles here.

23588754.jpgThis will be the date (October 9th, 2006 our LID date) that we shall go by from now on.  Why did I make a fuss a month ago about our 1 year DTC (Documents To China) well it’s taking sooooooooooooo long we needed to make noise about something.  See we already had Morgan for over 4 months when her one year DTC date anniversary rolled around.  Waiting is something new for us.  Thank God we have Morgan otherwise we would be losing our minds waiting.  Morgan, our can’t wait to be 4 year old is a great distraction, but even Morgan is getting anxious for her Mei Mei (Little Sister).  Morgan doesn’t understand why it takes so long to get a sister and frankly I don’t either.  As we try to explain the complexities of the world to Morgan she takes the simplistic view of “but why?” and right now I can’t answer that question.  All I do know is that when we (all three of us and my Mom) go to get Isabelle the waiting, frustration and anxiousness will get washed away in a matter of milliseconds and nothing else will matter.  So here’s to 1 year down and I know at least 1 more to go.  Tonight our neighbors are going to hate us since I have about 2000 fire crackers that will be lit to ward off bad spirits and and bring Good Luck to the Creighton family and to the future Mrs. Isabelle Creighton.

Oh, update the last referral group waited 697 days that’s 24 months before they got their referral at that rate it will be September ‘08 before we get our referral, but remember we have an entire year to go anything can happen.
