Check this out http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/ has an online video series of adoption stories. Becky spent all last night watching the video clips. Along with the series there are resources and a chat room. You may have seen these stories on the Hallmark Channel in 2002 the title of the series was “Adoption Real Families Real Stories” but now they are presenting them on line. Very cool!!! Here is the direct link to the site: http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/publish/consumer/home/shows/adoption.html

A really cool educational site.

After Morgan’s class at MyGym we went with a group of families to Monterrays. While waiting for our food Lisa was talking about a really cool website called starfall.com. While I only looked at it briefly it looks like a well thoughtout website as good as the programs you purchase. I can’t wait to introduce it to Morgan.

Morgan’s 4th Birthday Party
Filed Under Morgan | Leave a Comment
Well if you ask me I think Morgan’s 4th Birthday Party was a Hit with the kids and Adults alike. We had it at the Funzone II in Irmo. Yes it was a bit out of the way but I think if you ask everyone that
was there it was well worth it. Oh, why did I say everyone had a good time? Because everyone could play, not just the kids. I’m not sure but I think the adults had as much fun or more than
the kids and we had a lot of kids at this party. I think the count was 18 kids in total with parents we had almost 50 people there. Ok, who would of thought that Pa & Da would participate. Well
here are the photos to prove it. I knew that Morgan could motivate them but “DAM!!”. As you can see I think it was a pretty successful party. After the party we all crashed and then later that night we piled in the van and went to the Big MO with a few families from the party and watched Fred Claus and Harry Potter #5. What a fun and long day. How will we ever top this for Morgan’s 5th Birthday?
Happy Birthday Morgan, I hope you enjoyed your day.

13 months and counting

13 months down since our LID. The last referral group waited for 24 months or 700 days from LID to referral. If we use 700 days as our time frame it will be September ‘08 when we get our referral, but I don’t expect it to happen like that. I would bet on the summer of ‘09 or even later. Strap in it’s going to be a long ride.

Jockey Being Family™ Bear

Help support Adoption during National Adoption Month. Jockey, the underwear company is selling these bears for $8.50 and giving $3.00 to the Debra Steigerwaldt Waller Foundation for Adoption. While I’ve never heard of this foundation I view Jockey as company that would not try to defraud me of my money.
We have 3 of these bears. Click on this link for the website: Link. If you not sure this is legit do a web search for “Jockey” and do a search on the Jockey site for item #3734 or on the Jockey site go to “Men”, “Shop by Category” and “Gifts” and you should see the bear.
Give an extra-special gift and keep the promise of family alive and growing. This cuddly-soft, incredibly adorable bear makes a heartwarming gift that anyone is sure to treasure. And for each bear sold, Jockey® will donate $3 to the Debra Steigerwaldt Waller Foundation for Adoption* to support charities providing post-adoption services. *no part of the purchase is tax deductible.

4 Crazy Weekends in a row
Filed Under Morgan | Leave a Comment
Yep that’s right 4 very busy weekends in a row. Our house is a disaster from neglect each week. As I look ahead I don’t think these wild weekend will stop until the end of the year. Oh well we’re having fun and when a 3 year old is involved that’s all that counts.
Friday Becky attended a Seminar featuring a woman named Jane Brown. Mrs Brown talks about adoption and adoption related issues as an adopted child grows up. We were going to have Ma & Da watch Morgan and both of us go but Ma had some dental work done and wasn’t feeling up to it. So Becky went to the seminar and Morgan and I played in Target for a while. We shopped for clothes, videos and we discussed toys for Morgan’s Birthday. When we got back together with Becky she looked at me and said that we have no idea what we are in for and we need to get out more socialize more. Judging by the type of weekends we’ve been having I don’t know if I can do much more.
Saturday I met with a friend of mine to discuss how he wanted me to video tape his daughters wedding. I got to meet the groom and we ate some lunch after we visited the church. All I have to say is WOW they are going to have it at a Beautiful spot on Lake Murray for the wedding. After that we got ready to see the Bee Movie at the BIG MO Drive-In with 5 other families from Morgan’s school. While waiting the kids played on the playground, Ferris wheel and rode the train. I even broke out Morgan’s “pink” soccer ball and we kicked it around a bit. Seeing Morgan kick the ball around with the other kids I noticed that she may have some real potential to be a good soccer player. The Bee Movie wasn’t too bad a movie I spent about 15 minutes in the concession stand trying to get 3 hot chocolates since the temperature had dropped to around 40 during the movie. After the Bee Movie was over 3 of the 5 families left and we stayed for the second movie Stardust. Stardust wasn’t what I had expected and turned out to be an ok movie, although Morgan didn’t make it past the first 15 minutes. The Drive-In was a lot of fun and Becky and I talked about it and we may try another group next weekend for Fred Clause. Oh, we sat outside for the first movie but wimped out and ran to our van for the second one. It was cold… Oh, Natalia’s family wins the Die Hard Cold Movie Watching Award since they not only sat through the first but the second movie outside. In our defense I was dumb enough to wear shorts and it got cold.
